One of Australia's most
prolific songwriters, says that his music has something to do and say about his
experience of living and surviving.
Born in Melbourne, near the
river, Yarra. It has had a profound inspiration in his growth as a writer. Sam
started playing music at the age seven, writing a few years later. His musical
influence are many, he lists such as Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, Woody Guthrie,
The Seekers, Van Morrison, Bach, Beethoven, his loving mother, old Irish and
Russian music.
Playing a variety of instruments, Sam has performed at a large range of venues,
and with regular appearances on community radio and television, plus previews on
RAGE. Ironically one of the most important factors of this man's song writing
was an accident on a motorcycle overseas more than twenty years ago, which then
damaged his leg quite severely. At first the doctor in charge was talking about
amputating it. But later as saved.
Now that he is fully recovered,
from the ordeal. He recalls "I started writing and reflecting upon the
reflections of time. I had time to think about mattered in life and time." Once
he worked for more than just a living. The music of Sam Green is heart-felt,
head-soul music, with feeling, in music and song. His own view is that: "Music
is the heart strings of our foundation, on reflection I am a part of a wheel,
within a wheel, within a movement of time, I give and I receive, in this balance
of the Universe, I seek, harmony and goodwill."
